Elite Athletes Urge on Iran to Prevent Death Sentence of Boxing Star

Over two dozen Olympic medallists, coaches and other world-class competitors have put their names to a letter urging a halt to the capital punishment of a champion boxer and coach, who is on death row in Iran.

Escalating Worldwide Condemnation

Amid increasing international outrage over the country's expanding employment of executions as a instrument of repression, the forcefully phrased statement censures the government's ruling to confirm the capital punishment of the boxing champion.
