Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.
Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.
The opponent saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
